As a small business owner of a boutique fitness studio in Toronto we have had to close our beloved studio as all the other fitness facilities due to COVID-19.  Bills are still coming in and we are at risk of not being able to re-open when this is all over.

Now more than ever we need the support of our government to help us so that we can continue to provide a vital service for our clients and community.

Fitness plays a vital role in physical and mental health and our community is certainly struggling during this time.

After operating for the past three years renting space to service my customers, I finally managed to expand my business by signing a lease to my first ever physical location. I got the keys April 1st.

Unfortunately, I’ve not been able to do any fixturings because the bank placed a “pause” on my loan. COVID has prevented me from preparing my space to open my doors, which in turn has prevented me from being able to operate my business/generate any revenue.

With no financial support, how am I to set my business up for success when the government gives us the green light to open our doors? As it stands, my business is starting “behind the right ball” before I’ve even started.

My business is focused on strengthening the community of competitive youth sports for kids so that they have a safe space to train, develop, and attain their goals.

I went from teaching and training full time to being unemployed. I’m in limbo. Not sure if there will be studios to work in when this is all over. Thank you for doing this!

Our practice is closed for the foreseeable future. We are doing community service calls to patients at no changes to answer any health related questions but there is currently no income for the practice.
