I’m an independent contractor who relies on the income from teaching studio and private classes to support living in Toronto.

My concern in the short term is getting help with our rent. I have a 17,000 sq foot facility that means rent is very high. We did the right thing by closing our doors early on in the crisis and we have frozen all memberships. As a result our income has gone down to nothing. I would like to see a pause in the leases of all business with the remaining term of the lease extended to match the time that we are closed.

I have lost the ability to provide in-person training sessions to all of my clients. I work with people who have various types of chronic conditions and injuries, and the sessions I conduct with the are an important part of them being able to live pain-free and improve their conditions. I am conducting virtual training sessions, but only with 1/4 of my clients. Thus, due to this health crisis, I have lost 3/4 of my regular business activities, and the income that goes along with it. I am not eligible for EI, and technically do not qualify for CERB. There is no assistance for someone in my, and many others, positions so please help us!

As a self-employed physiotherapist working at a private practice clinic- I have been out of work since mid-March when the clinic closed due to COVID-19. I am lucky that I will receive the CERB payment, however when I return to work I will have a significant reduction in my client base and it will take a while to build this back up- being a contractor, this will effect me significantly.

We have no money coming in and limited funds in the bank. Rent still has to be paid.
