Boutique and niche facilities such as the nation’s circus, pole, and dance schools are not gyms. Our equipment is meticulously sanitized. No one shares gear. Our studio owners have spent much time and resources adapting to ‘the new normal.’

My industry is dying. This new shutdown, with no financial aide, will cripple the circus and pole industry across Canada, full stop; everywhere except Quebec, where the government has invested heavily in the arts sector.

Our studios need to be massive warehouses with very high ceilings; you can’t train to be an aerialist in a basement unit. These spaces are catastrophically expensive.

With no help we’re done. The whole sector. The entire industry in our city centres will fold. Thousands of people will be out of work, thousands of students and aspiring professional artists affected.

Commercial rent aide is needed now. Please help.

Shutting down means losing income and still paying rent on my studio. Not sure how that is going to work.

Our client numbers are only 50% pre-Covid. Even with being able to reopen, we are struggling to get by as the support decreases.

So many small, independent business owners are going to lose what they have worked so hard for if they are forced to shut for another 28 days or more. We need to do more to support these businesses before we end up with only giant corporate owned big box chains.

As an independent contractor for various small studios, I feel the devastating impact of once again closing our wellness spaces. I can attest to the rigorous cleaning procedures and huge investment that these small businesses have made in order to make their spaces safe and clean for their staff and guests. We provide a service that improves immunity, mental health and overall wellbeing. Please help save and support our community!

I would like gyms in Toronto to remain open. This is important for my mental health and physical health.

Mental health will suffer incredibly if gyms close. The establishments (studio/ boutiques) I go to are working hard to keep people safe (2 meters apart or more)while ensuring equipment is cleaned regularly !

We are a small studio with a MAX number of 7 people in during COVID (14 on the floor used to be our max but we further time them out). We wipe every station with sanitizer after every 2 minute interval. We just hope if things pull back, it is reduced numbers (like 20 or 10 per room etc) as opposed to full closure, as our staff manages sanitizing each station between use.

This pandemic has been devastating to our small business. We offer small group and private classes, and enforce all the safety protocol to keep our staff and members protected. Dance and fitness is essential for the mind and body! We NEED to stay open for the well being of our staff and students!
